Taylor Ann KataseOriginally from Honolulu, Hawaii, Taylor Ann is a jazz-studies performance major at the University of Texas at Arlington. Invited to UT Arlington on scholarship by Tim Ishii, the director of jazz studies, Taylor Ann has accomplished many things since enrolling as a freshman in the fall of 2013 including being awarded the Dan Burkholder scholarship, playing as a member of the top jazz combo (Dan Burkholder Combo), and performing as a member of the top jazz band (UT Arlington Jazz Orchestra). By playing in these top ensembles at UT Arlington, Taylor Ann has had the opportunity to meet and share the stage with world-class musicians and composers such as Dick Oatts, Gregg Bissonette, Joe McCarthy, George Stone, and Gunther Schuler. Taylor Ann has been playing drums professionally since 2011 in Hawaii and around Texas. After placing second in an international women’s drumming competition called “Hit Like A Girl” at 17 years old, Taylor Ann is also a proud member of the TRX Cymbals “Rising Stars” roster. |
